Cajón – Spanish Drum Solo Workshop

.

A ‘Canela Fina’ cajón workshop is perfect for an inspirational music session. The combination of feeling the beat, clapping rhythms and powerful cajón vibrations, is unbelievably exciting!!!!

.

Threaded with the history and videos of Peruvian/Spanish drum, this workshop will encourage Spanish learning through fun and music.

.

Taught by a professional percussionist, students will love body percussion and the opportunity to play the cajón individually, taking turns to play cajón solos, while the rest of the group claps keeping different rhythms.

.

Facilitator: Percussionist

Participants: Maximum 30 children

Duration: 1 hour

Age: From Year 4

This workshop was all in all, a great success. The presentation introduced Flamenco both geographically and historically and  was well supported by videos, enabling the children to understand the evolution of dance whilst learning Spanish vocabulary.

The children created a fantastic performance combining dance, clapping and music. The cajon presentation was excellent, demonstrating the variants of flamenco by using different rhythms. The children were fascinated by the instrument and thoroughly enjoyed playing it themselves.

I believe it  provided children with a more in depth understanding of the Spanish culture and both children and adults had an amazing time. I could not recommend this workshop more! Thanks Canela Fina!
